I've always been a person who saves, recycles and re-use items. I'm especially happy how many $$ I save in the process. I live on a limited income and a budget. I've noticed that my wardrobe is the easiest for me due to the fact that I get hand me downs from my daughters. I go to garage sales and thrift stores. I live a simple lifestyle. I prefer jeans, T-shirts and sweatshirts. However, I don't ever plan to dress frumpy and old, just because I'm a Mom/Grandma. I'm a fun Nana, just ask my kids and grandbabies.
Other ways I save is I use coupons. I keep my pets and us well fed by using them. I stockpile items that we use alot, especially paper products, laundry and dish liquids, pet food, cat litter, through using coupons. It is just like having extra money. We plant a large garden and can food to add to our food stockpile.
Nothing goes to waste at our farm. Any scraps-potato peelings, carrots scrapings, melon guts and rinds, apple cores, etc. gets fed to our laying hens. The coffee grounds and filter, tea bags and egg shells go into our compost pile for our garden and worms. We recycle cans, glass, plastic and paper. Any metal/tin gets turned in to a scrap metal place and we get paid for it.
I do online surveys and I do product testing. This helps supplement my income plus I sell farm fresh eggs from the hens.
I get free books to read and do a review on them. I get to keep the books and pass them on to friends and family. I love to read.
We grow and bale our own hay for the horses and goats.
We contract our LP gas so we don't have a fuel bill to pay in the colder months. Also I turn off lights and such when not in use to keep the electric bill down for Dennis. I line dry laundry on nice days.
These are just a few things that I do to be frugal.
